Alan Solomons graduated from London University with a degree in Physics and Computer Science in 1970 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1973. His background in large-scale accountancy firms such as Arthur Andersen, Dearden Lord Annan Morrish and Binder Hamlyn included audits for several quoted companies and responsibility for a number of PLCs. But small and family-run businesses have always been his passion, and they are the reason he became a senior manager, concentrating on small business for two 5-partner firms, and then left to found Alan Solomons + Co in 1981, helping business and individuals improve their business, save tax and improve their investment returns.
